Clinical Specialty Visitor Program

Thank you for your interest in the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine Department of Clinical Sciences & Advanced Medicine (Penn Vet ClinSci) and the clinical specialty program. Dr. Mark Oyama is Chair of Penn Vet ClinSci. He is Professor of Cardiology and, in addition to his many awards, was in 2020 named as the Charlotte Newton Sheppard Endowed Chair of Medicine in recognition of his scholarly achievements and University citizenship.

Penn Vet ClinSci’s role is to educate, provide emergency and critical care service, and develop new approaches through research. The clinical specialty program gives you the opportunity to broaden your skills as a veterinarian by observing the specialists at work, and through participation in patient rounds and other educational experiences. Come for just a few days, or for a whole year: the visit will be tailored to your needs. Opportunities are also available for veterinary technicians, veterinary students, and others in associated roles, as well as those seeking licensure in the USA via the PAVE program.
